has been actively teaching in the classroom and in workshops for 26 years at all levels
K-5. What she presents in these workshops are not theories, but rather specific,
practical, creative ideas and strategies that have repeatedly worked to improve the
quality of student writing while insuring high interest.

- educational consultant, author, and conference speaker specializing in teaching teachers
the "how to" of teaching writing to their primary and elementary students
- addresses topics of writing workshop and the development and monitoring of school-wide
writing programs.

- Conducted workshops for over 70,000 teachers nationally and internationally
- Kentuckys Statewide Primary Writing Consultant for 7 years
- Contributing author for the development of the Kentucky Early Learning Profile (KELP)
Kentuckys evaluative tool for primary and elementary students
- Co-author of Building the Foundation the WRITE WAY , a resource outlining
practical genre and literary strategies for building the structure for narrative and
expository writing in grades K-5, still used in Kentucky.
- Graduate of the Louisville Writing Project and the Writing Across the Content Area
